Before and After Press On Dental Veneers ProceduresWe offer veneer teeth in our dental practice, which are a great option if you want to correct crooked teeth or discolored enamel. Since little of your enamel is removed to apply veneers on teeth, this procedure doesn’t require local anesthesia. The cost of dental veneers is something to smile about as well. They cost less than other dental procedures, such as crowns, and can fix an array of problems, including:

  • Tooth discoloration. Most professional whitening treatments are temporary, but dental veneers on teeth give you long-lasting brilliance.
  • Chipped or cracked teeth. Veneers can hide your chipped and cracked teeth, giving you the confidence to smile again.
  • Gaps between teeth. Veneers instead of braces can hide gaps in your teeth. While teeth straightening is still an option, it’s costly if all you need to do is hide gaps.
  • Short or worn-down teeth. Whatever the reason, you may have teeth that are shorter or more worn down than others. Veneers can help lengthen small teeth in adults to create an even smile.

Dental veneers are available individually or as a full set, both for upper and lower teeth. Most small tooth veneers last between seven and 15 years, but veneers for small teeth may loosen or fall out. The same is true for veneers for crooked front teeth.

Types of Dental Veneers

With several types of veneers available, veneers aren’t just a standalone treatment but can address different dental issues. You can get high-end treatment options, such as veneers, or quick procedures like press-on (snap-on) veneers. Ask our best dental specialist, open on Saturday, to determine the best option for you:

  1. Porcelain veneers. The most expensive option, these high-quality ceramic veneers are applied individually, formulated to match the shade of your teeth, and are resistant to staining.
  2. Composite resin. The most common treatment options, made of the same material as tooth fillings, aren’t as strong or stain-resistant as porcelain veneers.
  3. Zirconia veneers. Ideal for covering damaged or decayed teeth, zirconia veneers are stronger than porcelain and extremely durable.
  4. Press-on veneers. Also called removable veneers, they allow you to eat and drink normally, but they’re easily removable so you can clean them. Press-on dental veneers are an affordable, short-term option.
  5. Instant veneers. In between composite and porcelain veneers, these come in a variety of shades and styles. These dental veneers cost less than porcelain because they’re pre-made.

What Is the Difference Between Porcelain Veneers and Composite Resin Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are what are called indirect restorations meaning they are made outside the mouth. In contrast, composite resin veneers are direct restorations because the composite resin is applied directly to the tooth surfaces.

Although slightly more expensive, porcelain veneers are hard-wearing and long-lasting, and with the right care, should last ten years or longer. Also, porcelain cannot stain or change shade.

Composite resin veneers are cheaper, and the process to make and fit them is usually quicker, typically completed in a single visit. In contrast, porcelain veneers can take two or more visits.

Composite resin can become stained after a few years and isn’t as hard-wearing. You will need to replace composite resin veneers more quickly compared with porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers can be the right choice if you want to have multiple veneers, as often people choose this treatment to cover all the teeth visible when smiling or at least all their front teeth. If you only have one or two teeth that you wish to veneer, composite resin veneers could be a much more economical choice.

What Is the Procedure for Placing Veneers on Teeth?

Whether you want veneers for crooked front teeth, small tooth veneers, or porcelain veneers, the procedure typically requires two trips to your New York City cosmetic dentist’s clinic. Each appointment may last up to an hour and a half. During your first visit, your dentist gives you a full exam to check your mouth and gums’ current condition. Then a mold is taken, which is sent to the lab to make your custom veneers.

During the second visit, two to four weeks later, your dentist (open on Saturday) has to remove some of your tooth enamel to make room for the veneers, which means that this is not a reversible procedure. This etching takes off just about a half millimeter of enamel. Your dentist then fits and cements the veneers in place.

How Much Do Dental Veneers Cost?

Your dental veneer costs vary, depending on the type of veneers you get, where the teeth you want to cover are located, and what you need the veneers for:

  • Veneers for small teeth
  • Veneers for crooked front teeth
  • Veneers on teeth that are stained
  • Veneers for chipped teeth

Porcelain veneers obviously cost more than composite or zirconia veneers. Your total dental veneer costs include:

  • Removing enamel
  • Structuring your natural teeth
  • Using the chosen material
  • Covering all your teeth that need to be treated
  • Fabricating and delivering your veneers
  • Placing and cementing the veneers

Porcelain veneers for small teeth in adults cost between $925 and $2,500 per tooth. They last for 10 to 15 years. Composite resin veneers average between $250 to $1,500 per tooth and last five to seven years. Most insurance policies don’t cover your dental veneers’ costs since it’s considered a cosmetic procedure.

Making Veneers Last

Regular dental visits make your veneers last longer before you need to replace them. Chipped or fractured veneers can’t be repaired, but have to be replaced, so be careful when chewing hard objects. Your dentist (open on Saturday) advises against certain food and drinks — such as coffee, tea, or red wine — because they can cause damage too.

Dental Veneers - Before and After Procedure

Brush and floss both your teeth and your veneers for crooked front teeth as you normally do. Small tooth veneers can fracture or chip after prolonged use, so maintain your regular checkup schedule. Let your dentist know if your bite doesn’t feel right after your procedure. While most veneers are custom-made, there’s a chance that they may not fit right and require slight adjustments, so you’re as comfortable as possible with your new smile.
